With over 70 regional and national awards since 2006, the talent in Doane University’s Theatre Department is both seen and heard. This program meshes passion, talent and determination to propel students forward in the art world.
By completing internships, traveling to regional and national conferences, and taking regular trips to major cities, such as New York City, Chicago, or London, the Doane Theatre program values real-world experiences as a part of education.
Being a part of Doane University’s Theatre Department means working with talented artists, such as professional writers and directors, whose theatrical credits include 37 Broadway productions and the prestigious Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Students in the Doane Theatre program experience every facet encompassing the liberal arts. They develop a range of artistic, intellectual and problem-solving skills through exploration, growth and experiential learning. These students expand and grow as collaborators through contribution and compromise.
Theatre allows students to incorporate lessons from the classroom and their real-life experiences to advance their adaptability, communication, teamwork, and active listening skills by participating in all facets of a Doane Theatre production on-and-off stage. Deep, lasting social connections also develop through the theatre program. Each rehearsal and production process brings together both traditional theatre students and students from vastly different areas of the university.
